Question by Judy: what charity gives handicapped vans to people in need. My mother had a stroke, uses a wheelchair and needs van?
It is getting more and more difficult to transfer my mother into the car when I take her to the Doctor. She is paralyzed on the left side and when I lift and transfer her into the car she can not see the car seat because of the stroke and it scares her then she starts to have a panic attack which makes it harder to transfer her into the car. I must have a van with a wheelchair ramp because transferring my mother in the car is a fall risk for us both . Please Help. Judy

Some one asked me this question last week and I looked on the internet and found several sites, but I didn’t get the feeling that they would give anything. Have you checked the medicare. One other way I’ve noticed with handicapped vans is the plymouth, they have are close to the ground and have a ramp up into the van. I hope you find any answer and hope someone else gives you some answers too. Its tough. God Bless

Is there a race or charity event to help me raise money for handicap accessible vehicle for my daughter?

My daughter has Cerebral Palsy and is in a wheelchair. Currently I have a minivan, but will need to replace it within a year due to my daughter growing and our need for a bigger vehicle. I cannot afford a van payment and was wondering if anyone knew of a charity event, running race, or anything that could help me raise money for it. I would be as involved as possible and would work extremely hard. I am looking at needing around $10,000 based on what we require for a van. Any ideas?
I live in Massachusetts.
